چکیده

Background Acute liver failure (ALF) is a serious condition characterized by sudden dysfunction, jaundice and hepatic encephalopathy. Its mortality rate of approximately 80% underscores the urgent need for effective treatments. Supportive extracorporeal therapies (SET), which temporarily support function remove toxins, have shown promise in improving outcomes acute (ALF). The aim this study was to compare dual supportive therapy (SET) mono patients with failure. Methods A total 127 were included retrospective, single-center study. Of these, 62 received 65 therapy. Primary endpoints survival without transplantation mortality. Secondary resolution encephalopathy normalization International Normalized Ratio (INR). Results In group, 59.6% survived transplantation, while 27.4% achieved recovery transplantation. group 12.9%. Significant regression grade observed 87% patients, 1 year transplant recipients 10.7%. 61.5% experienced successful 29.2%. improvement 70.7% patients. Conclusion Both (CVVHDF PE) (PE) associated significant improvements renal biochemical parameters, blood ammonia levels, neurological status III-IV particular, improved hemodynamic stability, lactic acidosis acid–base balance. Survival our retrospective cohort using protocolized approach higher compared previously published large ALF studies. This warrants further prospective

Artificial Liver Support System Combined with Liver Transplantation in the Treatment of Patients with Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure

BACKGROUND The search for a strategy to provide temporary liver support and salvage the patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) remains an important issue. This study was designed to evaluate the experience in artificial liver support system (ALSS) combined with liver transplantation (LT) in the treatment of ACLF. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS One hundred and seventy one patients...

Economic evaluation of the artificial liver support system MARS in patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure

BACKGROUND Acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) is a life threatening acute decompensation of a pre-existing chronic liver disease. The artificial liver support system MARS is a new emerging therapeutic option possible to be implemented in routine care of these patients. The medical efficacy of MARS has been demonstrated in first clinical studies, but economic aspects have so far not been inve...

Artificial liver support in pigs with acetaminophen-induced acute liver failure

AIM To establish a reversible porcine model of acute liver failure (ALF) and treat it with an artificial liver system. METHODS Sixteen pigs weighing 30-35 kg were chosen and administered with acetaminophen (APAP) to induce ALF. ALF pigs were then randomly assigned to either an experimental group (n = 11), in which a treatment procedure was performed, or a control group (n = 5). Treatment was ...

Artificial Liver Support System Improves Short- and Long-Term Outcomes of Patients With HBV-Associated Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure

For patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF), artificial liver support system (ALSS) may help prolong lifespan and function as a bridge to liver transplantation (LT), but data on its long-term benefit are lacking. We conducted this prospective, controlled study to determine the efficacy of ALSS and the predictors of mortality in patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV)-associated ACLF.F...

Outcomes of liver transplantation for patients with acute liver failure.

BACKGROUND Liver transplantation is a treatment for patients who have acute liver failure (ALF). This study aims to evaluate the outcomes following liver transplantation in patients with ALF and compare them with cirrhotic patients who underwent liver transplantation.  METHODS This retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted at Shiraz Organ Transplant Center between June 2004 and March ...
